How to Get the Most Out of Invisalign
December 28, 2022 6:09 pmOne of the most popular treatments at our Katy dental office is Invisalign® clear aligners! Invisalign is a great option for adults and teens looking to straighten their smile without the obvious appearance of brackets and wires. Below, we share some tips to help patients get the most out of their Invisalign treatment.
- Wear Your Aligners As Much As Possible
- Be Patient
- Keep Your Most Recent Aligners
- Brush & Floss Daily
- Rotate Your Aligners As Directed
You can’t get the most out of your treatment plan if you don’t wear your aligners as required! While the aligners can be removed, they should always be worn when not eating or drinking, cleaning your teeth, or cleaning your aligners. Successful treatment includes wearing your aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day, every day
You may notice that speaking may be a bit difficult at first. Patients with Invisalign can sound as if they have a lisp. However, after a few days of speaking, you will likely be able to talk normally.
Invisalign involves progressing through a series of aligners. Keep your most recent past aligners. This can help your treatment stay on track in case your new set gets lost or damaged and you need to wait for a replacement.
Brushing and flossing every day is simple with Invisalign since the aligners are removed for oral hygiene. Unfortunately, many patients remember to brush their teeth but skip flossing. Flossing, however, is critical to remove food and bacteria that have gotten stuck between the teeth and under the gumline. A buildup of debris can increase your risk of tooth decay and gum disease and cause discoloration of your aligners.
Carefully follow the treatment plan our team lays out. We will let you know when to change your aligners and if you need a series of new aligners for refinements. Teeth straightening requires patience, consistency, and precision.
