Will You Shave My Teeth into Stumps for Porcelain Veneers?
Absolutely not! Think of your new porcelain veneer as more of a press-on nail than a glove. Dental crowns are made to cover most of what remains of a tooth. There are no shark teeth involved in the making of our porcelain veneers.
Dental veneers are fitted onto only the front surface of the tooth after a minimal amount of enamel is shaved off. Some patients may require no shaving at all.
What Is The Process for Dental Veneers?
Everything starts with a consultation. Your dentist will take a thorough examination of your mouth and decide if veneers are the best solution for your smile goals. If veneers are the way forward your smile will be prepped and then scanned so your veneers can be designed.
If significant enamel is removed during the smile prep, you’ll get temporary veneers while your permanent porcelain ones are prepped. When they’re ready, they’re cemented in place and you’re all set.
How Long Will My New Veneers Last?
Cosmetic dental veneers are a permanent procedure. The veneers themselves will need to be replaced after 10-15 years (but could last longer with proper care). Once you’ve gotten veneers the first time, expect to keep them.
